Jazz Festival in Saint-Germain-des-Prés
It's in this district of Saint-Germain-des-Prés, a center of intellectual and cultural life of the postwar, that the association L'Esprit Jazz (The Jazz Spirit) launches it's 16th edition of the festival.
From May 19th to May 31th, the concerts are popping in all places and sometimes strange ones: Theatre, Church, School, and even Jail (like the Versailles Women Jail, in which will be played a musical concert for social insertion).
See you at Le Café des Editeurs, for meetings around the Jazz, including topics such as "where are the women? Jazz and Prospects ", or how a "man" jazz also had to make space for women.
The festival is also the opening. To other musical styles such as gospel and world music, but also to young artists with the "Tremplin Jeunes Talents" (for young Artists), to amateur jazz musicians with "amateur practice", and a Only-Girls musical evening stage.
Rates vary according to concerts, some are free, others have to be reserved. The festival setted up a pass "a la carte" from 54 to 87€, allowing the jazz lovers to have fun and to the curious ones to discover. But whoever you are, I will take the quote from Lester Bowie, trumpeter: "Jazz is not a specific directory or an academic exercise ... but a way of life. "
